Simply Stunning Creative Challenge

Each Month Shelli Gardner has a creative challenge and asks us to participate in a creative challenge. I encourage you to visit often to gather fresh and easy ideas to expand your creative horizons. This month I am submitting these two cards that are stunning to the viewer but very Simple to make. The first one I simply glued some of my punched elements onto my cardstock layer and ran it through my amazing Big shot and square lattice folder available in the Stampin' UP Idea Book and Catalog. I mounted the layer onto another layer and card base and was finished with my Simply Stunning Card for Valentine's Day.

My next card is just as simple but I stamped with the Clearly for you stamp in each corner of a Blushing Bride Base piece to make it look like a Table cloth and then took our Tea Shoppe Tea Cup stamp. I stamped it in Tangerine Tango onto Blushing Bride and Colored the image with Tangerine tango out lining the flower a bit with Regal Rose Marker. Cut the tea cup out and glued it onto a Pear Pizzazz piece and then ran it throught the Square lattice folder. Mounting onto a layer and card base my card was finished! Simple can be elegant without being hard to do. Hope you enjoyed this and try it for yourself.

My Demonstration at Regionals San Antonio

I was so honored to be asked to demonstrate at Regionals in San Antonio. I had my own booth and had to do the demonstration several times. I didn't get to see any of the other demonstrations so if you demonstrated please send me your information. I only wish they had kept everyone in the Theater and let each of us present on stage. It would have made more sense for each of us to just do it once and for the corporate to only have to do their thing once. I am sure we could have worked out the make and takes times with each group rotating between breaks and doing one project at a time. Just sayin'. I do feel honored they picked me and I enjoyed seeing your faces up close and was happy to answer any questions.

This first one is from the new Twitterpated DSP that is in our new Ocassions Mini. I just love love love that paper! And I am sure you will too!

Notice the little center on my bookmark that sits in the project? You can make one and it adds a great bit of dimension to the flower. Just get the new blossom punch and fold inward all the petals (sponged it looks great) When you push down the last petal poke it under the first folded petal. Kind of neat right?

The dimensions for my project are 12x12 then minus 3.5 inches off one side.

score on short side at 2.5" and 6"
Score on long side at 1.25, 2.5, 5, 7. 9.5 and 10.75

you will need to cut the 2.5" squares off each corner there is a score in there that will be used later but just ignore it when cutting the 2.5" squares off.

The next squares get folded toward the middle on the diagonal.

There will be two flaps on each side of the center fold them inward and you will see where the pockets are made from.

Turn the paper over finding the 5 and 7" scores and bending them so the ends of the paper meet forming a tent shape. that top (first and last) score can be folded inward or outward depending on which side you want showing. Your crop a dile will come in handy for making two holes at the top where you folded the paper over and the ribbon that holds the cookies (2 in either a 4x6 bag or a clear envelope with the top cut off and a bread tie around it) The outer pockets hold the tea. This project is great because it uses no adhesives! Just the Ribbon which I know we all have plenty of! I will try to get a better tutorial up soon. At least with some pictures of the steps. For now I am on the Road.

This one is made from the everyday elegance DSP in the Saleabration mini. The best part is the paper is FREE! yes with every $50 order you get a free saleabration item. If you are a hostess there is a free hostess bundle for qualifing sales!
The Bookmark is made by stamping the tea cup from the Tea Shoppe set also in the Ocassions mini and cutting a template and tracing it onto glossy white paper. Then cut that out and stamp it with versamark with the bordering on Romance stamp set (also in the ocassions mini) then clear embossing powder is added and heated and image colored with our wonderful classic Markers that seem to glide across the image. I added a tiny bow on the handle of the cup and added it to the two tags die. Simply fold your 8.5x2.5 piece of paper and put the fold just below the top scallops and it will make a cute book mark that you can add my poem to or just stamp your own sentiment.

This next view is of the center parts where I store our sweet pressed cookies. The cookies use the shortbread recipe. I found if you are having trouble using the press you are probably putting the whole egg in.
Just put the yoke into your ingredients and no egg whites! The egg whites cause it to be too sticky. You must also use real butter and don't line your cookie sheets just put the dough directly on sheet.

Here are some Lollipops that I traded for 3-d swaps. Notice they have that cute center I made up in the centers. They were a big big hit!

This final one is also from the everyday elegance DSP. I love that it has so many beautiful vintage type prints in it and coordinate beautifully with each other.

Valentine Love and A The embedded image Technique

I entered these in a contest on the SO Shelli blog. It uses our Valentine Love Stamp set from our main Catalog at Stampin UP! and the new set in our Occasions Mini catalog PS I Love You. Also several of our punches and border punches. Love the Melon Mambo color with the Cherry cobbler Cardstock.

The other card is using a technique where you glue punched pieces on your base piece and then run it through the square lattice die giving it the effect of a embedded image. I used our sizzix sizzlet with the heart and the heart to heart punch as well as the bird builder punch.

The technique is one I use alot and is quite fun.

My Grandchildren all 5 together

It is rare that all of my grandchildren get together at once; infact that last picture we had of them together was two years ago when I was in the hospital at Christmas and Abby the youngest was not born yet.
Here are a couple of pics of them after a church service at Crossroads Community Church we attended.

Mountain Dew and Sierra Mist Christmas Wreath

With all the dillying with Lollies lately; that is the medalian looking folded piece everyone is making with the new Stampin' UP! Simply Scored Tool. They are fun to make and we learned how to do them at Convention this year in our Village of Cuteness class

Well I thought I had a brilliant idea and then found that someone else and someone else had the same idea. I think alot of us that are think our of the box ladies often come up with the same or things that are alot alike. If you look on Stampin Connection you will see quite a few of these. It is a Wreath made from Aluminum cans and the SU snowflake die. All the different color combinations are so cool. I have seen blue and orange ones; and blue and red; and red and green. I am thinking the silver and Gold in the Beer can form would be pretty too. Anyway enjoy the pictures.
I also used the snowflake punch from SU and a 3/4 inch circle punch to complete the project. To make the cardboard Wreath I used a Pizza Box and just traced a dinner plate and then a saucer size and cut the circle out and the inside circle so you get what looks like a donut to attach the Snowflakes to. I just used my cropadile and punched 10 sets of two holes close to each other. Then I tied the Ribbon through the wholes till I had all ten sets done and then began to tie the snowflakes on. If you sandwich two of the aluminum snowflakes together and kind of snap them together pushing one point down and every other point they will stay together pretty well. Put the ribbon through them and build the other snowflake (punched from Glossy White paper) with a 3/4 " circle and put two holes with the cropadile so it looks like a button poke the ribbon through and tie it on top.

Goodbye to a Dear Friend

My Friend Loretta has moved away to Austin Texas well Actually Round Rock TX. She had a little granddaughter born recently and could not bare to be miles away from her. What a wonderful thing for her to be able to see her little Lucy growing up and being able to be close to her family. Little Lucy only weighed a bit over 2 pounds when born and I am happy to say that Loretta told me she had doubled her size in weight and would be going home from the hospital soon.

Our friends from our crafting group met at the Olive Garden the other night to send Loretta off in style. It was so hard to say Good Bye to her as she has not only been a great friend but my downline and my accompaning partner and roomate for various conventions and trips. I will miss her alot but know that I will get to see her shortly as we plan to meet up for leadership in January. Even though I have already shed some tears and will definitely have to look hard to find someone else just as fun to hang with.

I want to share the card I had made for Loretta and the Frame I made for her granddaughter Lucy.

The Frame is made with the Christmas Paper and Embossed with the Melon Mambo embossing powder with a bit of irredesent ice added in it. The Letter's are made with Stampin' UP! Sizzix simple letters. I used the Simply Scored to make the cute folded butterflys with some of our DSP from last year. I also sprinkled some Rhinestones in and used some of the pink Pirouette ribbon to add a few bows. I know it will look nice in her room with the pink and chocolate theme she has.

Here is the card I created for Loretta. The little box on the side holds 5 Hershey's Nuggets and has a cute bookmark in the pocket. I used the Stamp set Little Friends for the image in the front. The inside bookmark uses the set thoughts and prayers. The sentiment Sweet Friend is from the new stamp set in the Holiday Mini "You are Loved" I also used the Ribbon lace punch and the beautiful wings embosslit for the pretty butterflies. I added a touch of smooch to the wings.

Cards From Ronald Mc Donald World Card Making Event

Just wanted to share the cards from World Card Making Day event. All the cards and the money for making them went to Ronald McDonald House. I was there this past Wednesday and dropped off several packages of stamps and also about 150 - 200 cards.

I am going to begin working with students of the Lecanto High School so they can earn bright scholars volunteer hours at selected Saturdays at the Homosassa Library soon. They will be a big help in helping me fullfill the needs of the RMH in St Pete that I am a Stampin' UP! Appointed lead for the 3 houses near All Childrens' Hospital. Many of our local families have already used the houses there.

Birmingham Stampin' UP! Regional 2011

Just want to say I had the best time at the Birmingham Regionals. Shelli was not there but all my favorite presenters were there Donna Shannon and Carrie! Also Brian was the most awesome Videograher ever. I was able to get decent pics this time.

Donna is always funny and here the 3 are laughing on stage because Donna said a funny thing about watching her son create a baby. Then she realized what she had said and everyone was roaring. She then corrected herself and said she was not going to watch her son create the baby but she was going to watch it be born today. It was her first grandchild so she has a right to get mixed up and be a little giddy. I remember when my first one was born.

Just wanted to give an update on the Ronald McDonald House. Saturday Oct 1st we had a fund raiser for the RMH on World Card Making Day. Several of my local demonstrator friends gathered and taught. There were 6 of us in all. Each person donated $2 at each table and made 2 cards. One card they donated to RMH and one they kept for themselves. We offered refreshments and had door prizes each half hour. If you missed it we have decided that we will do this annually. It was a great day and everyone seemed to enjoy making the cards and we raised about $300. We plan to buy postage stamps and envelopes for the cards we will be donating in the future. So far we have donated over 500 cards. I will be bringing the current load down on next Wednesday. We hope to do a card making event at the Ronald Mc Donald House for the families soon. I will post pictures of the cards soon.

World Card Making Day

This year my downlines upline and sidelines with Stampin' UP! in our local area are doing a community charity event for the Ronald Mc Donald House of St Pete. Florida. The event will be at the Withlapopka community center located at 11104 E Flounder
Floral City FL 34436 on Oct 1st Saturday from 11 am - 3PM If you are coming from the North head south on 41 and turn left at Gobbler (near the Circle K) if coming from the south it will be a right hand turn. Follow the yellow lines all the way around and across the bridge. Turn right onto Blue Dolphin and then a left at Flounder and it is on the right side. There is a playground for the kids and Stampin' Cards inside for the adults. Each Demonstrator will be running a table that you can donate $2 and make 2 cards one for the Ronald McDonald House and one to take home.

We will also have some baked goodies to purchase and drinks and Pizza coming at Lunchtime. Just be sure to donate generously to the kettle. All proceeds will go toward buying postage stamps and for envelopes and Supplies to keep our card makers going. It will be a fun time to get hands on instruction and get to know some of our Stampin' UP tools and materials. SU has the finest papers and ink and accessories and Tools.   I use my Table top cutter,  my Big Shot and my Simply Scored almost every day.   Won't you come and join us and do something great for our friends.

I personally took a tour months ago and was amazed and very touched to hear that 65 families from our own town used the center and it's housing last year and over 70 from neighboring Hernado County used them as well.   They not only house these people but keep their family there and feed them and provide laundry services and emotional support. Each room is responsible for a light housekeeping chore and a small charge if they can afford it but they will not turn anyone away that cannot pay. The expenses of a hospital stay can be astronomical but with the help of RMH these families can afford to be close by for their children. One house is built right onto the hospital and is reserved for families of ICU patients.

All Children's Hospital is known for it's great medical services and has seen many successes. I know if my child had to be hospitalized it would be the only place I would want my child to be treated. Although we didn't have a choice in the hospital back then my son was treated at Gainesville Hospital at age 4 because of a hole in his heart. We also stayed at the RMH in Gainesville and were so thankful for their services. I took on the job of lead as a way of paying back for letting us stay with them so many years ago. Today Noah is an active and healthy 16 year old. Thank you Ronald Mc Donald House

The 3 houses are located within a block of each other and the All Children's Hospital.
Stampin' UP! had appointed me lead of these houses back in June and I accepted. They did not have a former lead and had not had one in years. The houses also did not have nice Stampin' UP! cards to share with their guest. I am proud to announce they are now an Active house and each house has a box of 100 greeting cards to share with their guests.

After tomorrow I hope to present them with at least another 300 cards.

A New Kitten In The House

We lost another Siamese. Sadly enough someone stole the Cat we adopted from the Animal Shelter a few months ago. This was the second Siamese to be stolen so we opted for a different type of cat. We normally adopt from the Animal Shelter older cats because we know they are less likely to be picked and we like to rescue them but this time we decided to help out a friend who needed to find a home for a sweet kitten. My I had forgotten how entertaining a kitten could be. They bring pure Joy and create destruction whenever they can. I am sharing our sweet guy that was suppose to be a girl. I called him Bella forever and then decided that he was a boy kitty. My son called him Chuck Norris because our other cats were named Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. But I prefer to call my new Kitten Simba. The kitten loves toys especially balls but his best play toy is our Australian Sheppard Quantum. They just love sparring with each other and although sometimes I think they play too rough they love each other. Quantum seems to love all our cats and likes playing with them. Infact I think he is the one that missed the other cats the most. He is happy with the Kitten and takes his duties as head kitten sitter seriously. I hope to post some updated pictures soon as the kitten has really grown fast. His favorite thing to do now is to climb our curtains and hang like Tarzan on them. Who knew what joys this little creature would bring to our household. Amazing.

Okay I had a dream about Paris in Springtime and just had to make these cards. I had a work shop last week and presented my hostess with one of these cute folders with the note cards I had designed. So pretty with the Easter Blossoms stamp set and I also used Chic Boutique and Artistic etchings.

They are easy to make with Glossy Paper and our Markers write beautifully on the glossy paper. I also used our sponges to add color to the foreground and backgrounds

I like making the envelopes to match each card.

Thank you cards are always something I can use.

If you haven't heard from someone in a while a little note card to tell them they are thought of is a big pick me up for the receiver.

If you want to learn how to do this technique or others join my classes at the Citrus Springs Community center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. We start at 11 am and finish by 1 pm. I try to keep cost low because of the economy. You get to do 3 cards for $10. I cut out all the materials and they are ready to stamp and assemble. Our class is called Cards and Chatter. The ladies love to chat and create. Men are invited too! Just call me or shoot me an email to let me know you are coming; that way I have enough supplies to go around.

The Easter eggs are embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder by Sizzix and sold exclusively by Stampin' UP! This card with the cross is made with our corner scallop and border punches.

Then I did the inlaid embossing with another of our folders. The lattice Square embossing folder is one of my very favorites.

Spring Time brings many things but the thing I am most Thankful for is that Jesus died for my sins and has forgiven all of us. I rejoice in the fact that he is alive in me and we celebrate Easter because he had died for all our sins and buried and has indeed Risen! I wish all of you a very happy and joyful Easter.

Here are some of my most recent cards.

Simple card with lots of sponging and vintage look.

A nice card with bleaching technique and also water colored images on water color paper. Combination of the Nature Walk stamp set and Nature's nest stamp set.

inside the card below... I used one of our die cuts so you could see the writing on the darker background. This die is called the top note die.

This card is cased from Dawn on Dawn's stampin' thoughts and is a self standing card below it is openned and stamding up on it's own Love the retro look. Mine has different colors but used the same concept and bigger circles than hers.

Here are some little mini purses I made for the craft show at the armory; they are just big enough for a small snickers and a cute poem about excuses to eat chocolate.

Also some cute maganets made from the fun flowers die.

My Card Class at the Community Center

This week I was able to teach SIX (count them 6 Ladies) card making. Our class is called Cards and Chatter and we meet every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Citrus Springs Community Center between Holder and Dunnellon. It is alot of Fun and we usually make 3 card for $10. Normally I don't have my Camera along but this week I happened to have it along and snapped a pic of our group. They love to chat with each other as they are stamping and assembling their cards. I bring the materials to use and they are already cut ready to stamp and assemble. We usually get there at 11 am and are finished usually before 1 pm. These ladies really enjoy learning new techniques and folds while learning the art of card making. Here are a few snaps

Visit to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs

I have lived in Florida all my life and never visited Tarpon Springs. My friend and bead teacher Marsha asked me to go with her to pick up her friend Terri from Massachusetts at the Airport a few weeks back. We picked her up and went to a Stamp show in Clearwater and then had lunch in Tarpon Springs which was a new thing for me. I had my camera along so I thought I would post some pictures to my blog for you to see. Marsha's sister Joan went along with and was our very great driver.

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my SU punches. This card is for my granddaughter Abby's 1st Birthday. I found a rag doll pattern on Kim Scores blog and made the little doll ride on a swing. I had made a raggedy Ann years ago but I love this one even better. Let me know what you think

Trying Something New

Shelli challenged us to step out of our comfort zone and try something new. My comfort zone is ususally the cutesy type cards and scrapbooking. So I am attempting a new technique Split negative that I learned from Michele Zindorf's blog and a new style more Elegant type. If you stop by let me know how you like it. I liked it so well I designed a card for my classes to duplicate.

Here is my first card

It is an Easel Type card.

This is the easel propped up with a tiny rose done with the large oval and build an owl punches also used the bird punch for the leaves.

here is the close up at the rose and you can see that I also used the new framed tulip embossing folder that goes throught the big shot.

Okay now look and see what I did from that point. I actually liked this so here are some more

this way.. Then I thought I would do my swap card for leadership like this too

So I added our Rhinestones to two spots just a little bling

This is the same design but I separated the black and white scallop from the Scallop #2 die and added lots of bling this time.

Kusadama Christmas Tree

Origami Christmas Tree
this is my own original design. I have not seen the tree made with the flowers yet. I have also made a Kusadama Ball as posted in a previous post. To make the Tree you must make 15 flowers each with separately made petals. Once 5 petals each made with squares are assembled and glued together you have one flower. To make each layer you need 5 flowers joined together to make a ring.
The bottom layer is made with 4x4 inch squares so you need 25 pieces of 4x4 for the bottom layer.
The next layer is made from 3x3 and the top layer made with 2x2 inch squares. This project is time consuming but I like the results in the long run. I used the boho blossom punch from Stampin' UP!
to cover the hole in the center and added one of the shiny Rhinestone brads to the center to bling it up a bit. The Angel is a Christmas Ornament that I also added the SU Rhinestones to. I used a clay pot underneath and Put a clothespin in the center of some Floral Foam to hold the tree in place. I made this pretty flower ball with Stampin up Tempting turquiose paper at a all day crop. It took me most of the day but I felt good when I got it put together. One of the Artisan Award winners had made a layered cake decorated with these beautiful flowers and I just wanted to see if they were easy to fold. I managed to find a great tutuorial on line and was able to do this one all by my self.

My BFF Loretta and I headed down to Venice FL to attend a brayering class with Michelle Zindorf. She is an Artist that I have been following her blog for quite some time. I had always wanted to attend but never was able to get into her class. Another good friend of mine had planned to attend but ended up selling her ticket to me. Boy am I thankful for good friends. The class was amazing and Michelle is very organized funny and a great teacher. She is so skilled in creating amazing pieces of art with nothing more than stamps ink and paper and of course the magic brayer and sponges. If you get a chance to take her class I hightly recommend it to you. She offers many beginning classes and a limited number of advanced classes. I so want to take the advanced class now. I have included some pictures of the day and Athough the class is expensive the experience and tips and tools we recieved were worth every penny spent. We even got to visit the beach while we were there.. here is a link to her blog

These are not the winners but the next catagory down. We were recognized on Award night of the convention. I was wildy clapping for my friends and all of a sudden realized my name had flashed up. That means we were each within the top 32 out of possibly a thousand entries. I vow to try again next year. I was very impressed with the boards again this year and it is always nice to see your entries on display.

Convention 2010 proved to be a great adventure. Loretta my downline and I set a week early; rented a car and drove to Idaho Falls. We stayed overnight there and the next morn traveled to Yellowstone National Park and took the Old Faithful Loop. We saw plenty of geysers and wildlife. Then we traveled over to Jackson Hole WY and visited an Arts and Crafts Festival and attended a wonderful Play "Annie Get Your Gun" and also rode down the snake river on a river raft ride. We arrived in Salt Lake city a day later and toured a nice garden at Red Butte. We also found some nice shopping at the Quilted Bear and the Gateway Mall area.

We met up with my upline Barb and sideline Michelle at the Shilo hotel on Tuesday afternoon and went to tour the Sweet's Candy Factory. Yummm. Wednesday we got up early and 3 of us were able to get into Momento Mall without waiting in line because we each had a recruit in July. After Momento Mall we picked up our convention bags with our free stampsets. We headed out to Riverton after a nice session taught by our key note speaker Sue Rushe.
It was nice to see the Riverton headquarters once again. Felt more like going home. The Stampin' UP! people are all very nice and treat you just like family.
Wednesday night was the big Flower Power Party. Peace man and Far Out. What alot of fun that was to see the staff and all the demonstrators getting into it with some far out costumes.

Thursday our first day was long but very rewarding. We wore out hats and T shirts for our team spirit. Wow did the hats ever get the attention! Everyone wanted pictures of them. We did our make and takes with time to spare and had a nice dinner before heading over to the awards ceremonies. It was there that I learned I had made the finalist list for the Artisan Award Contest I had tried out for. That means my entry was in at least the top 32. There were only 10 winners for this award so I feel I was very close in winning and will definitely try again next year. After the Awards Charley Jenkins took the stage in a big way. His big Red bus drove right through the curtain on the side of the stage. How wonderful was his band. All the members were very great at their craft. I was most impressed by the petite little gal on the fiddle. It was an excellent show.

Friday morning we were hard to wake but got there in time and found great seats. I wore my bee hat that symbolized our group the BIZ E Stampers. on my way back to the hotel I was hit by the YOU crew and got a fabulous prize. Ribbon and the owl punch and a scrapbooking kit and several pads of ink and in color markers. YOU HOO!

Hard to believe Saturday got here so fast but it is our last day of convention. Shelly and her daughter Sara shared on stage what we could do with the fabulous material that will be available Sept 1 in our mini catalog for the holiday. They were each wearing a tree skirt on them. Sara took hers off and showed the trick of sinching it to make the tree skirt. Then in the afternoon session we were all amazed with a fabulous prize of the level 2 stamp set that is in the mini and cherry cobbler classic pad a the fabulous Christmas paper and some glass glitter. wooo hoo again! Shelly talked a bit about some changes coming and although she wasn't able to tell us those changes just yet she was preparing us for what is to come. We ended convention attending a WOW demonstration hosted by the late night stampers. This demonstration was wonderful and included 3 of the Aritsan Award winners that I was able to talk to and each encouraged me not to give up and keep trying for a winners title. Here we also received some great prizes thanks to Sherrill and her organization of this event.

Sunday Loretta and I and Erlyene a lady we met at our Friday night event with Linda Hanson went down to the conference center together and watched the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. So beautiful was the music and very relaxing (yes I fell asleep). We took in a tour of the Mormon History Museum after that and a trip to the Gateway mall again. You could say Loretta and I squeezed every moment of the day out of our trip and have some great memories and ideas to keep us going all year. We are both looking for recruits to take with us next year. Are you game for the adventure of a lifetime? Then talk to us!

Some new things I have been making

Here is a picture of a few things I have been making with a new paper called Sunny Garden by Stampin' UP! These are a few of the gifts for my downline.
I used a notepad and the 1" circle punch to create holes to peek at the bees. also made a matching pen and a drinking glass with our Sunny Garden paper inside. I also used the new pumpkin pie Tafetta ribbon on the note pad... oh so yummy in color. My uplines group is the BIZ"E" stampers so I decorated with just buzzing by stamp set. The little box is an ALTOIDs cool honey box with Altoids inside. I also used the 2 new laces one around the sides and the other on top and a collar on my bow made from the new in color pear pizzaz poly stiched ribbon. Also used the pearls so easy. I am also working on a special tote bag made from the sizzix die and material run through the big shot using our scallop square die.

Wedding bells are ringing for many couples during the next month. Here are some of my creations for this month celebrating those in love. I have made a Bride Scrapbook page with the eyelet border punch for the dress topped with the butterfly punch on the top of the dress and using the scallop circle punch for the bouquet of flowers which is made from some new mini punches called itty bitty shapes for sale now in our new summer mini good till August 31st. I also used some Tulle for the veil and her under skirt and the bouquet. Her hair is made from a scallop punch. On the photo frame I used the sizzix decorative accents. I am happy with this page and am trying to incorporate more scrapbooking in my designing. Below that is a card also made with many of our great punches. and a sizzix die called the lattice die that has been run through with folded paper it increases the size of the paper to about 8x8 and when folded it makes a great place setting item that would look nice filled with kisses.

Okay I have seen many other Artisan award contestants entering their almost a winner entries. Not sure mine was but thought I would share since it is wedding related.

Here is the cake made in 5 layers. I did start from scratch and made all the layers without the help of boxes to start with. I used the movers and shapers die lattice die and embossed all the cake layers with the SU embossing folders I will add my daughters wedding scrap picture here as well.

Beach Diva and Beach dude

The Beach Babe (Diva) is my own original creation. The beach dude is a case of a Card my upline Barbara Harmon cased from someone. I so love the beach and these cards were used to cheer up my ailing sister who had a appendicitis last week and my brother who turned 50 last weekend. They sure did like them. I hope to have some with me at convention this year to swap out. Convention every year is a blast and I don't ever want to miss the fun and excitement. I am working on some swap cards and anxiously awaiting to order the new colored cardstock. The Cards and Chatter community class meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the Month at the Citrus Springs community center. Time is from 11 am - 1 pm we do three cards or projects and cost is $10 per participant. Please bring your own Adhesives and pop dots and glue. I made this scrap frame for some friends of mine that own a scrap place. It is located in Inverness and run by the 5 sisters and it is called scrapping sisters. They are just on Inverness blvd off 41 where the old driver's license place used to be. Go and check them out. The Beach Gals in this Beauty and the Beach frame are all made with Stampin' UP! punches. The Bikini's are made from the 2009-2010 in color polka dotted ribbon and a fork bow. The head is made from the 1 inch circle punch the hair from the scallop punch. The legs are the word window punch and the arms the corner page punch. The sunglasses are made from cutting the scallop edge punch. The bodies are a wide oval after punching turn the punched oval sideways to take a little out of each side of the oval so they have a girlish figure. The towels are a 2 inch by 3 1/2 inch piece of DSP with a 1/2 strip added to each end and feathered with the scissors. Aren't they cute. They have a great suntan added by sponging creamy caramel to blush blossom card stock. I enjoy sharing my creations with you. This is my own design and if you use it please link back to my blog.

Sorry I have not been keeping up with my blogging; but I have been working on my entries for the Artisan Award contest and they were due to send this week. So they are all packed up and on their way to be judged at Stampin' UP! Sorry I cannot share them as it is part of our rules not to post them online. I will however post them when ever it is allowed.... after the convention.

Speaking of Convention; the time is coming up to register to go. If you would like to attend then you need to be a demonstrator, What better time to become a demonstrator than right now. Our fifth Grandchild was born on January 22 2010 Her name is Abigail Faith Kimball better known as Abby. She is beautiful and weighed in at 6 LBS 1.5oz measuring 19" Mommy and Daddy are doing well and survived the 12 hour wait for their little one. I have taken some pictures and would love to share them with you. Wow are we going to have fun spoiling this one.

County ClosingCommunity Building

I found out that the County will be closing the Lecanto Community Building. I will try to have a few classes a month at my home in Inverness. My community classes will be held at Citrus Springs Community Center every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 11 am - 1pm We will do 3 projects (cards) for $10. You just need to bring your own adhesives (snail popdots and glue). I will provide the pieces for the cards all ready to stamp and assemble and an envelope plus instruction. We do various cards and folds and have fun chattering with each other. Why don't you come and join us??? Just give me a call to make your reservation or email me to confirm you are coming. My Hospital Saga

Well if anyone ever told me I would not be able to celebrate Christmas in the old fashioned way this year I would have never believed it. But ... It happened that I went into the emergency room on Dec 18th with Christmas less than a week away with tons of loose ends to tie up. Thinking I would be going home with a Zpac of Antibiotics and better soon ...boy was I wrong. Not only did I not make it home I spent 2 weeks struggling to get better. I had Pneumonia and instead of getting better I kept getting worse. Today is the last day of the year and although I missed the Christmas week rush and the sales afterward I am thankful to still be alive and able to sleep in my own bed tonight. I had an outpouring of friends and family wishing me well with calls and cards and visits. I consider myself fortunate to sit up and take nourishment. Thanks also to my husband for his undying selflessness in coming to visit and be by my side everyday. Just his smile made my day. I managed to go through 5 roomates all extrememly different from each other but very nice ladies. How sad would it be had we each just sat there rather than share our lives with each other. Somehow I figure we encouraged each other to get better. My last roommate I felt a bit guilty leaving sit there waiting for her doctor to release her. Although she came in quite cantankerous because she had been moved from the room she was comfortable in she really was able to laugh with me about the poop patrol. We were each ready to go today after 9 AM but she was still waiting for her doctor up to 6PM. Before I left I had been given a flu and a Pneumonia shot for good measure. Two weeks is a little much to be in a place where there is so much drama but the Nurses Doctors and staff were very great Their number one goal was to see me go home well.
My family came and visited me on Christmas day and here is one of the pictures of my granchildren. My daughter is ready to have her third baby any time now. So thank goodness I am over the pneumonia. 2010 Hopefully has a few more healthier days in it.

Demonstrator Shoe Box Night

Here is one of my cards that I had designed. He is done with Punches and I used sponges to sponge on color and also used my big shot machine to emboss the cardstock and my crimper to crimp the red hat portion. Don't you think he is so cute?

Two of our Stampin' UP! teams get together on the first and third Fridays of the Month and share ideas and do a shoe box swap. What is a shoe box swap? Well each demonstrator coming will bring all the supplies to do her 10 - 15 minute project in a shoe box with a kit of cardstock and embellishments to make the project. Most projects are ready to assemble and each demonstrator carefully guides us through the project so we can recreate the card at one of our own workshops. We just have the best time and have really been able to get to know each other as friends. I always pick up the best tips and ways to do things. More Cards with punches

Here are some cards made with the note cards and some punched cardinals. The cardinals are made from the wide oval punch the square punch and a 1/4' circle and a 1 " circle and the word window punches. They are fun to make. The weath was made from taking one of the pocket Silhouette stamps and moving them around a punched circle. I put a sticky note in the center to keep from stamping the inside of the note card. I love the gingham red ribbon. Just twirled it on and attached with mini glue dots. The Greeting in the center is from a hostess set called Holiday Best. It is available to anyone placing a single $150 order along with that you also get $15 stamping reward dollars to spend on anything in the catalog. There is also a special on this month host a workshop of $250 in sales and get an item from the Holiday Mini for $10. That includes the bigshot pop up Christmas tree die.

Here are some of my newest creations. The build a bear is a new set and the bears are paper pieced with our DSP papers and assorted cardstock. I used the sweet treat cups to make the candy inside of the balloon and the inside has a slide up window that you can retrieve the candies.

Boo Card with Pumpkins and Bat made with the SU round tab punch and eyes from SU round punches and Letters BOO made with the SU Sizzix serif essentials Alphabet dies. The pumpkin is also a sizzix die.

Card with fence made with SU small tab punch and ribbon to create fence and SU triple flower and hand cut birdies makes a 3 D effect.

Card with butterfly image (a hostess set that can be earned with a qualifing party of $150 Called Of the EARTH) is done with marker direct to stamp and then huffing on the stamp to remoisten the ink allowing several colors of marker to be used. I used a piece of striped DSP paper in the background and another stamp up in the corner inked with versamark to make a watermark impression.

Thought I would share some pictures of my community class cards. The class is called Cards and Chatter. It is alot of fun to meet new people and to instruct this class where we learn a technique and get to know each other better. With all that is going around us in this day and age we need to take time out for ourselves and relax. If you are looking for a night out with out spending alot of money and want to enjoy some chatter and laughter come and join us. I can take up to 12 per class but you need to make a reservation either with me or the City parks and Rec site so I know you are coming. This helps me get together the supplies needed to make the cards and ensure there is enough for everyone to participate. Cost is $10 for 3 cards.

I checked on the Stampin' UP! website today and even though we fell short of our original goal of having 1500 join stampin up from our convention challenge. We were given a 40% discount on the digital scrapbooking program. Yoo hoo Stampin' UP! Rocks WE were able to recruit close to 1250 new demonstrators in a few short weeks.

This offer was only available to those who attended convention. As always attending convention is a big perk but having all that we learned available at our fingertips after convention is great too. Sometimes the brain gets a little overwhelmed with so many notes to take and the excitement of it all that when you get home you wonder where you scralled a note and if you can find it in all that you brought home. My Latest Creations

Here are some of my latest cards and creations.

I am doing a technique I call captured diamonds. I use heat n stick powder (from stampin up) and add dazzling diamonds to it. Heat set again and place an embossed window sheet over it with brads. Very pretty and full of bling for the holidays. I will repeat this class at the Citrus Springs community building on Tuesday 8/11 from 11 am - 1 pm. To attend you must email me or register with city parks and rec site. Cost is $10 for 3 cards.

Happy Birthday Meredith!

Here is a special card that I have completed for my step daughter Meredith. I hope she will enjoy it. I have used the new Lattice Sizzix die with the Big shot and the new in-colors Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay with our basic black cardstock and our brushed Gold cardstock. The cute little Japanese girl is created with the wide oval punch the 1" and 1 1/4" circle punches and the new modern label punch. The stamp sets used are Wings of Friendship (flourish on the robe)and Kind & Caring Thoughts (sentiment)both hostess sets and The circle on the brushed Gold cardstock above and below the sentiment is from the Circle Circus stampset. I used Black Stazon for stamping. For a tutorial on making the Japanese girl check with Kirsteen who gave me my inspiration. New Technique Pigment ink with chalk or What I call the Chalk board technique

This a new technique that our resident teckie taught us. Pat Garvin is such a great teacher and part of a group I belong to called stamping in Florida. once a month we meet at the Scrap and Stamp studio on SR44 just past the walmart. Our group has been in existance for a couple years now. We are all great friends. Using pigment ink stamp your image, heat set a bit then using your chalks or pastels gently dab on the color. Then use the pigment ink again on the same stamp and change the angle of the stamp. Neat affect. Didn't think I would like it at first but it does grow on you.

Card Opened. another of our stampers and members Trishie showed us this neat Tri shutter card. I changed the dimensions just a bit but it is still made the same way. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

Here is another shot of it. On the outer part I didn't stamp it twice just once and used the pastels to color. I love using our scalloped punch from SU with it. The technique works best on dark or black cardstock.

Here are some of the latest cards I have been working on. The roses are watercolored with the reinker spread / wash technique on Shimmery White cardstock. A Really fun technique. The sunflower card is done with the Sizzix daisies die. I used the small dots embossing plates to get the impression on the middle of it. I sponged the cards with ink to give a little highlight. I also have made some quilt cards by paper piecing and then cutting with a top note die. I hope you enjoy.

Lady Margaret Passion Vine

Wanted you to see a different color of passion vine. This is a Lady Margaret and it is a deep pink flower. It is said that the passion flower represents Christ's passion for us. The middle of the flower is the crown of thorns he wore and the stamen with five arms stands for the piercing of his feet and hands and torso while he died on the cross for our sins. This one is growing in my yard and just started blooming. Thought you would appreciate it's beauty

Strange critter at the birdfeeder Today

This strange dude was on my birdfeeder today just before a rainstorm. He is one of the several hundred baby grasshoppers we saw last month. My they grow awfully fast. Wonder if he is beefing up on birdfeed? One picture is a picture of my husband looking at him from the inside window as I snap the picture outside.
